Big changes took place at the Daily Independent, a 20,000-circulation daily in Ashland, Kentucky in May, 2003. The paper reduced its page width, converted to a.m. publication, dropped the 'Daily' from its title – and unveiled a new design by Tony Sutton. The redesign, led by production editor Stan Champer, saw a new nameplate, an extra daily section and revitalised typography with heads in Worldwide and Brown. Click here to see more page samples
